Summary of the content on the page No. User Manual XENYX 1204/1204FX Thank you Table of Contents Congratulations! In purchasing the BEHRINGER XENYX you Thank you. 1 have acquired a mixer whose small size belies its incredible Important Safety Instructions. Behringer Xenyx X1204USB USB Mixer Features: Lots of input options at a budget-friendly price Channels 1-4 each feature one-knob compression 3-band EQ 24-bit multi-FX processor USB connection for stereo computer recording. The Behringer Xenyx X1204USB has a ton of features at an easy to handle price.

The XENYX 1204USB - 12-Input USB Audio Mixer from Behringer is a 12-input audio mixer with an integrated USB computer audio interface. It enables you to mix together and shape the sound of multiple audio signals, and route the audio to several outputs. Special attention has been paid to the quality of the 1204USB's 4 microphone preamps, 'British' style EQ, and 4 easy-to-use one-knob compressors. The 1204USB provides four mono channels and two stereo channels, making it ideal for smaller jobs. There are two aux sends on each mono channel (which enable you to route individual channels to stage monitors or external effects), and two stereo aux returns. The built-in USB interface allows for a bi-directional transfer of audio to and from your computer. The 4 built-in compressors are designed to simplify the process of controlling dynamics in your mix.

With a single knob you can dial in the amount of compression you need for any given sound. Individual compressors are a feature rarely seen in mixing boards in this price range. The 4 XENYX preamps offer 130 dB of dynamic range, and the 3-band 'British' style EQs really allow you to create a fine-tuned mix.

The XENYX 1204USB is well-suited for recording studios, video editing suites, live sound mixing, podcasting, and more. Rated 5 out of 5 by Pennacle Studios from Behringer 1204 I wish I would have owned this thing when I played in my former band. Now I use it for recording. It's all a small band needs, and for the money, there's no beating it. Originally I was going to do some scratch recording with a line in directly into my computer's soundcard, but I have Windows 7 and was experiencing a problem with latency and feedback.

I tried several other USB interfaces and found this one to be the best by far. The other company I was dealing with was quite annoyed by me buying products and returning them repeatedly because I wasn't satisfied. Once I found this one, they were glad to get rid of me, and I was glad I didn't have to go back. This thing does exactly what it's supposed to do, route sound.

There's no hissing, no feedback, and it works perfectly. The other reviewers were talking about how it was difficult to use and how the software wasn't great. First off, if you've ever dealt with a mixer, this one is no different except for the red button that routes the sound through the usb interface. Secondly, I would never use this software for recording anyway. It might be ok, but I never tried it. Bottom line, it does what it's supposed to do, there's no lag, no feedback, no white noise, and it has a great price.

One reviewer said it had great effects. This unit does NOT have effects.

If you want effects, the Behringer 1204fx is what you need to get, however most recording software comes with plenty of effects. Rated 5 out of 5 by pomonasi from fantastic mixer for small use i bought this unit to have a small recording session within my apartment. I didn't want to spend a fortune while looking for the most bang for the buck. I considered other brands but for what this mixer offers, no other brands came close. I mean, this thing is set for anything you want in a small setting.

Of course, i should have gone with the built-in effects unit but i dont have any regrets. Recordings come out extremely clear, compressions work great, and everything is so straight forward.

I didnt have enough time to fiddle around with it too much but so far, it has been excellent. Rated 2 out of 5 by John Tyletr from Hardware good - Software is horrible! The hardware is good. The energy xt 2.5 software is geared toward engineers, and needs to e written for dummies like first time users of equipment. It took a week for me to figure out my equipment and the software. Their manuals are horribe because they fail to tell dummies like me: STEP ONE.here's how to hook up the machine. STEP TWO.Here's how to make sure you get an input signal.

STEP THREE.do this. THey give an overview of their products, which is horrible.

Glad I didn't spend thousands on equipment - it might take months to figure it all out. Rated 4 out of 5 by Erik T. From Happy with the purchase I purchased this mixer to be used in podcasting. It does a whole lot more than I need it to do, but I purchased this one because if I wanted to expand my use of it I could do so without having to grade to a different mixer. I'm really pleased with it - seems like it is decently constructed and is easy to use. I would say that if you are a newcomer to audio mixers this shouldnt be your first purchase but if you are a pro or at least familiar with mixers then this would be a soild buy without breaking the bank. Rated 3 out of 5 by Randfixer from A Lot To Learn but worth IT!

First, I am a novice at mixing and this unit is about semi-pro musicians, so I am a little lost. If you are new then this unit is a big learning experience, so be prepared to test you're PC and electronic intelligence or get something simpler. For the money it was great, it does all the stuff I could want, effects, multi inputs, and so on.

And Behringer is a great product. If you are hoping to power a small group then you will also need either powered speakers or a power head and speakers to get decent sound. It will power your mics OK but nothing more, though I did get my pre-amped guitar through it. Now I am micing my guitar amp and running it through the mixer, into my power head and out my studio monitors and the sound is great.

Hi I've been trying to get my stream setup working but as of right now after more than a week of youtubing and reading lots of info I can't seem to figure out how to fix this audio issue I have. I'm running a single PC streaming setup using a 12 channel usb sound mixer (behringer xenyx qx1204usb). PC Specs: - Graphics GTX 1080 - Processor i7 - 16Gb Ram Stream Setup is: - PC using main soundcard line 'out' to channel 7/8 - iPhone out to channel 5/6 - Sound mixer USB 'out' to PC USB (as an output) - Aux send 1 on sound mixer to pc 'in' mic port on the rear of the pc The main issue I'm experiencing is an unbelieve static sound that sounds like this: There are two parts to that audio, the first part is using the mic port of the pc which is using the AUX send 1 and the second part of that audio is the USB input from the sound mixer.

I get this static noise if I don't use the 'AUX send' but it's much louder when I'm using the mic on that channel. The reason I need the AUX send 1 is for skype, discord and game chat. I don't want all my mixed audio coming into my mic when talking to people. I've read it could be a grounding issue? I do have a very noisy fan compensating for my gtx 1080 graphics card.

But I'm struggling to resolve this issue. I don't seem to get this noise from my mac when recording on it.

I have all of my computer and electronics plugged in the same power surge protector board from the same outlet. This issue only happens on my pc too. I'd be willing to trade in this sound mixer if it makes my life easier at this point. So if anyone thinks something else can achieve this without the headache of static noise that would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has any ideas please share.

Grounding issue, specifically with your PC-mixer on 7/8, and aux1-mic in. Your iPhone will be fine as long as you don't plug it in to a charger (if you do, then you'll be introducing another ground potential difference). Pick up a few ground loop isolators.

Just pop them in-line, they act as a decoupler for the differing ground potentials, no noticeable impact on actual signal quality. Also, if by 'mac' you're referring to a laptop, then you're avoiding the issue by not having a grounding difference. Until you plug it in to charge. EDIT: I would also recommend using the line-in port on your PC rather than mic in. That may fix that part of it on its own - the mic port isn't really designed to accept line-level signals.

Thanks for the reply! Interesting, so they haven't affected your overall gain or sound output? Would this do the trick? I'm in Australia so that place is local to me. Yes I did mean a mac laptop (macbook air) using battery so it completely makes sense what you're saying about avoiding the issue there.

To be clear I'm using the rear inputs for all of the input/outputs on my motherboard on the back of the PC not using any front inputs (which made no noticeable difference to this problem anyway). So the green line out (computer audio) on the pc to 7/8 mixer channel And the red line in on the pc from the aux send 1 (for condenser mic XLR) on the mixer. I really hope this helps, this issue has been driving me insane! So if it's your magic bullet I'm praying it's mine too haha:) Cheers. I have a 1204usb and had to try like all my different USB ports and chose the one that generates less static it's barely audible now but still got a fair amount of floor noise but I think that may be because of using cheap equipment (1204usb + dbx286s + sm7b) Also on top of all the advice you've received it's also made a difference when I separate my audio cables and make sure none of them are touching my display port cable (static when the cable was touching my display port cable going into my 1080ti) and other power cables!

Oh ok yeah intersting, I have tried a fair few different usb ports for the 1204 input but the static hasn't really come from the digital signal for me. It's once I introduce the analog 3.5mm cables I run from the pc into the mixer that sound like I'm next to a cell phone tower. I will try to seperate my audio cables a bit more that's good advice, thank you mate. Btw I'm jealous of that mic you have it's a beast!

Did the Dbx 286 make a big difference to mic gain for your sm7b? With noise ect. I'm thinking of getting one as I struggle to power my AKG perception 220 condenser mic on the 1204 usb. Yeah that sounds like an odd issue but I haven't dealt with dual pc setups, honestly sometimes the order of the way you plug your things in the multiplug can even make a difference (atleast it did for me) the sm7b is great but I think you need some even beefier equipment than a dbx286 to REALLY get it to sound great without having the floor noise issue, I tried a cloudlifter aswell but sent it back. But then you're looking into pre amps at like £1000+, the compressor on the dbx 286 is definitely a life changer when it comes to not wrecking ears though!

What you're hearing is the typically shitty audio from an on-board PC soundcard. The insides of a PC are very noisy, electrically speaking, and getting your analog audio physically outside of the box will help tremendously. This is very, very common, sadly. No amount of throwing ground loop isloators or ground lifts will fix this problem. If anything, isolators kill your sound quality and should only be used sparingly. It also doesn't help that Behringer's old analog mixers, like your QX1204USB, are infamous for electrical issues and general shittiness. So much so it's a running joke to take pics of Behringer mixers in trash cans at.

Your best solution is to get a regular 2-channel audio interface like a Behringer UMC202HD or Tascam US-2x2 and mix on the PC in software with Voicemeeter Banana. Just remember to install only Voicemeeter Banana and then RTFM. There's many (many.) wrong Youtube videos suggesting you need to install extra Virtual Audio Cables. They are wrong. 99% of the time all you need are the two virtual soundcards that come with the default Voicemeeter Banana install. Interesting, thanks for your thoughts. I've only starting learning about sound mixers the last few weeks, starting to get the feeling that behringer mixers are a no go lol.

Is there a better sound mixer that would do the job with less problems as opposed to a another audio interface? I just love having the versatility of controlling everything at a big mixing board and having one main out. (I now realise from you I could use the banana software to do it on software but doing a manual adjust is easier for me).

Would having a few external usb sound cards help with this issue too? As it's out of the pc?

Ironically I actually have a usb audio interface which is the m-track II: I have used this with little probems for recording music for years as most recording software was able to designate specific channels to record on. Since windows 10 has come out it's been a nightmare.I could only record both tracks at the same time as the usb drivers were all dodgy and I was only hearing my voice in one ear in audacity and other recording programs.

I wouldn't let me choose one channel of the interface, only both channels. Which was a big problem. I eventually dived into the behringer 1204usb mixer which so far has left me pretty disappointed. I'm considering taking it back as it wasn't cheap over here.

It also sounds like you're saying the ground loop isolators aren't even worth me trying, which is disappointing haha because I thought I may have a little solution to my noise problem. One last questions, do you think the noise issue could be related to any electrical wiring inside the room and around the sockets of the power outlets? Or just a noisey pc? Ironically I actually have a usb audio interface which is the m-track II: I have used this with little probems for recording music for years as most recording software was able to designate specific channels to record on. Were you accessing it over WDM/MME instead of ASIO? The WDM interface may have been merging it into stereo (which can be pulled apart in any DAW if you go looking for it), which ASIO should fix. Otherwise, go for the usual Behringer/Zoom/Tascam/Roland options if you aren't spending RME/Sound Devices/Motu money.
